PAKISTAN: Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) entered into an agreement with AbacusConsulting and Metro Resources Inc for the implementation of SAP Industry Solution for Utilities at a ceremony held at KESC Head Office in Karachi the other day.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Tabish Gauhar, Managing Director, KESC, said, “Implementation of SAP Industry Solution for Utilities will assist KESC in improving effectiveness and efficiency of its billings, business intelligence and customer relationship management functions, enabling the Company to provide high quality and reliable services to the electricity consumers of Karachi”. He further added,”KESC selected SAP, after a thorough review of all the best business technologies available in the world, due to its proven track record globally in the utilities sector, good fit with functional requirement, alignment with long term IT strategy and superior after sales support by AbacusConsulting”. SAP Industry Solution is the world’s leading Utilities Information Solution used by more than 600 of the world’s leading utilities.
Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Tabish Gauhar further emphasized that as part of the Company’s strategy to modernize its systems by using the best of the breed integrated technology platform, KESC will be able to improve the quality of services to its customers by offering one window operation for all services, making the monthly billing more reliable and accurate, improving customer services by resolving customer issues during the first call, better organization wide access to billing information, shorter training timelines, increased security of customer data and enabling KESC to offer more relevant offers to customers.
Also present on the occasion were Dr. Syed Naveed Ahmed, Group Head Strategy, Mr. Jan Abbas, Chief Operating Officer Distribution, Sardar Naufil Mahmud, Chief Information Officer, Mr. Asad Ali Khan, Chairman, AbacusConsulting, Mr. Paul Grabham, Managing Director, Metro CIS and Inayat Koreshi, Partner, AbacusConsulting.
The implementation work will commence in December this year and will be completed in eleven months by November 2010.
