Abacus Thrashes MCB by 7 wickets to Lift CPL 2013-14
Abacus thrashed MCB by seven wickets in the final of Corporate Premier League 2013-14 at the Aligarh Cricket Ground in Model Town, Lahore.
Set a target of 173 in the allotted twenty overs, Abacus team led by Abbas Ali Khan started cautiously and scored only forty five runs in the first seven overs. Wickets then fell in quick succession, prompting the batsmen into action as they increased the tempo of the match. Sharoon John of Abacus scored an unbeaten 59 and hit the winning runs in the last over in what was to be a worthy final and a thrilling contest between two very competitive team. Abacus supporters stormed the cricket ground as soon as the winning runs were scored, sparking of wild celebrations.
Fourteen teams took part in the 5th edition of this annual tournament which was sponsored by Pepsi. The winner’s trophy was presented to team Abacus by Jahanzeb Khan, CEO of Pepsi Pakistan.
