Abacus’s Exceptional Performance Hailed at SCMP Campaign
The SCMP campaign was developed by School Education Department/Programme Monitoring and Implementation Unit, in partnership with World Bank as part of the Punjab Education Sector Programme (PESP II). The campaign aimed to provide an innovative and cost-effective ICT-based solution for on-going mobilisation and capacity building of school council members (iabout 500,000 in Punjab). The SCMP was introduced as a pilot into 50% of schools in five districts (Attock, Chiniot, Jhelum, Lodhran, and Sargodha) in April 2013. To provide the services of a call centre, Abacus, was hired to operate a programme of calling and texting school council members on their mobile phones on a monthly basis to deliver capacity building messages and to encourage more active participation in school council affairs.
According to the third party evaluation report of Cambridge Education, Abacus has accomplished all the requirements in conducting their part of the programme. Abacus developed the requisite system and software on time, provided training and preparation for its call agents (CROs) and maintained an effective quality assurance protocol. Abacus went beyond the terms of reference in developing new data collection software and installing it in districts ready for the next phase of the programme.
